Ice Rescue

During the cold winter months here at Lake Tahoe, iced over ponds, small lakes and streams become very dangerous.  Our program started with two of our members attending ice recue training in Colorado and sharing the knowledge to the rest of the department upon return.  At this time, the entire department has been trained in the basic operations of Ice Rescue so that an engine can be used immediately without the need for specialized staffing. We currently have two engines (Engine 5, Engine 3) with ice rescue suits, boards, and retrieval ropes on them.
